OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE

The AACC Foundation’s mission is to see the Church be the resource people recognize as the major resource they can go to and rely on in their quest for a psychospiritual healing that the Bible teaches and Jesus taught, role-modeled, and died for. The Foundation pursues this mission by developing resources, training programs, conferences, and webinars to equip the church to understand, reduce stigma and shame, be equipped listeners who recognize struggles, compassionately and empathically respond, then either develop resources in the church and/or refer to appropriate therapeutic options outside the church.

Addictions are the #1 killer in the US, and suicide is the #2 killer. We have been steeped in a behavioral health pandemic before the COVID crisis. The death, loss, isolation, economic and educational disruption, distrust, conflict, and living in constant fear will only throw gasoline on this pandemic over the next 15-20 years as these ripples play out.

Building on the Foundation

To enhance it’s mission, the AACC Foundation has a tremendous opportunity to bring in a Christian psychiatrist who has a track record of expertise, ministry, character, and innovation. Christian psychiatrists are rare, and psychiatrists are expensive. An experienced and successful Psychiatrist pay scale is as follows.

 

  •  Clinical 350/hr = 575k/y
  • Medical director of honey lake or other system = 450-550k
  • Consultant 300-600/h depending on the tasks and usually 1099 = 500-800k/y 

We have the opportunity to bring Christian psychiatrist Karl Benzio, MD, to be part of our team for a significantly reduced salary and other elements as listed below:

 

  • Medical, Dental, and vision for Karl, his wife of 30 years Martine, and one daughter Gigi still at home
  • Office space and its utilities,
  • Travel expenses for meetings and ministry partnerships, business development, fundraising, conferences
  • Professional VA medical licensing/malpractice/CME

Looking to the future

Karl brings a unique expertise and track record of successful rare positioning as a christian psychiatrist with 30 plus years including experience as church elder, church consultant, treater of many pastors, PK, ministry leaders and spouses both outpatient and residential, and holding various administrative and clinical roles in healthcare.

Karl will assist the AACC Foundation by:

  • A major relationship AACC has is working with various ministries and GLOO to help connect struggling people to the church as their point of entry into the behavioral health system for a Biblical worldview. Karl’s clinical and ministry expertise will aid in critical analysis of goals and methods with innovative problem solving and are a great fit to help maximize this unique endeavor and help all the ministries involved. He will also help with some of the medicolegal issues in this crisis, triage, and refer role the church will take on.
  • Resource for Church Coaches/first responder development, training, and recruitment for implementation
  • Church training and recruitment to be first responders and develop other healing services
  • Resources for Clinician training for successful scaling
  • Asset mapping of other curricula to be used by coaches and churches as well as local ambulatory care options
  • Asset mapping of other intensive non-ambulatory treatment options when church needs to outsource like Honey Lake and Place of Hope and a number of other residential resources for more urgent and long term needs.
  • Christian psychiatrist a phone call away to offer quick insight or consultation.
